Centrotherm Photovoltaics AG has announced that consolidated sales in the first half of 2016 fell to €61.9 million ($70.2 million) from last year’s €86 million ($97.4 million) figure. However, sales in its photovoltaics and semiconductor segment increased by €3.6 million ($4.1 million) from €38.4 million ($43.5 million) to €42 million ($47.6 million) in the first half of 2016. Total operating revenue for the segment rose in the same period by 27 percent to €55.9 million ($63.3 million). Earnings before interest and taxes were positive, standing at €1.1 million ($1.2 million). The company attributes this growth to a cost reduction and efficiency program launched in 2014, as well as order strength. New orders totaling €85.4 million ($96.7 million) were received from the photovoltaics and semiconductor industry, compared to €29.5 million ($33.4 million) in the same period last year. Centrotherm is a supplier of process technology and equipment for the photovoltaics, semiconductor and microelectronics industries.
