Modular spectroscopy technology developer Ocean Optics has named John Hsing as its vice president of operations. In his new role, Hsing will lead the company’s manufacturing operations, production engineering, supply chain and quality control sectors. As a member of the Ocean Optics board, he will also help guide the company’s strategic growth. Hsing comes to Ocean Optics from Idex Corp. where he led a successful Lean transformation as director of operations. Prior to Idex, he held engineering and product development positions at Brunswick Corp. and ITW Shakeproof. Hsing holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Ocean Optics is a developer of miniature spectrometers, sensors, probes, optical fibers, light sources and calibration standards for education, environmental monitoring, laboratory, aerospace, agriculture and industrial processing applications.
