CHELMSFORD, England — LASER COMPONENTS UK has appointed Dan Barlow to the role of general manager, succeeding Chris Varney who is stepping down as managing director. Barlow joined the company as head of sales in January and has previously held directorship and sales roles at Paragraf’s sensors unit and G&H Photonics, respectively. WAUSAU, Wis. — The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) has added Bahman Anvari as editor in chief of the society’s Lasers in Surgery and Medicine journal. Anvari’s research is focused on the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of lasers and light-based devices, and the engineering of novel optical micro- and nano-sized materials for photomedicine. He is a co-inventor on several patents related to the cryogenic spray cooling technology for dermatological applications and has been a member of ASLMS since 1998.
