Pixel Photonics Introduces Advisory Board: People in the News: 5/29/24

MÜNSTER, Germany, May 29, 2024 — Nanophotonics startup Pixel Photonics has formed an advisory board. According to the company, the move comes as it moves through a series-seed financing round. The board is made up of chairman Antonio Mesquida Küsters, CEO of consulting firm Tech-Diligence; Wolfram Pernice, professor of experimental physics at the University of Heidelberg and University of Münster and co-founder of Pixel Photonics; Oliver Kahl, principal of MIG CAPITAL AG; Gernot Berger, Pixel Photonics investment manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds; and Jean-Gabriel Boinot-Tramoni, principal of venture capital firm Quantonation.

TEL AVIV, Israel — Grid technologies startup Prisma Photonics, whose optical fiber technology supports monitoring large-scale power utility infrastructure, has appointed Tiffany Menhorn head of sales for North America. Prior to joining Prisma Photonics, Menhorn served as vice president of utility solutions at Palmetto, a provider of energy intelligence data. Previously, she led business development for North America at LineVision, and led sales efforts in the western U.S. for Enel X.

BROOKFIELD, Conn. — Photronics, Inc., a developer of photomask technologies and solutions, has promoted Eric Rivera to CFO. Rivera held the role on an interim basis since February following previous CFO John Jordan's retirement. Rivera served as the company's chief accounting officer since 2020, having previously held the role of corporate controller since joining the company in  2016.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Kopin's board director and head of its audit committee, Scott Anchin, will step down from his board position, effective May 31. Anchin has entered into a new employment agreement with an unnamed company which requires resignation from all outside board roles, Kopin said. Kopin has engaged Egon Zehnder, a leadership advisory firm, to identify a replacement.

OXFORD, U.K. — Refeyn, a developer of mass photometry technology, named Fiona Coats chief marketing officer, effective in June. Coats most recently served as the head of marketing for Sartorius’ lab products and services division and has experience in leadership positions in marketing at MESO SCALE DIAGNOSTICS and ThermoFisher Scientific.

SUWON-SI, South Korea — Samsung Electronics has named Young Hyun Jun head of device solutions. Jun previously served as head of the Memory Business in 2014 and CEO of Samsung SDI in 2017, before leading the future business division in 2024. He started his tenure at Samsung Electronics in 2000 working in dynamic random-access memory and Flash memory development as well as in strategic marketing.
