Jenopitk Adds Deputy Chairman: People in the News: 3/6/24

JENA, Germany, March 6, 2024 — Jenoptik has appointed Jakob Habermann as deputy chairman of its supervisory board, replacing Stefan Schaumburg. Habermann had already been elected to replace Schaumburg in the election of employee representatives to the supervisory board in 2022. Habermann has been a member of the supervisory board since Jan. 1 and holds positions in the investment, personnel, and mediation committees. Habermann currently serves as trade union secretary at the German IG Metall trade union’s central district management, a position he has held since 2014.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Optical and photonic products developer Lumentum Holdings has appointed Jae Kim as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. He will be responsible for leading Lumentum’s legal department, including corporate affairs, commercial transactions, trade compliance, and intellectual property. Kim has over 25 years of experience in corporate law, most recently serving as chief administrative and legal officer at GlobalLogic, Inc., and senior vice president and general counsel at Rambus, Inc.

AUSTIN, Texas — Focused Energy, an inertial fusion energy company, has appointed Scott Mercer as its CEO. Mercer is founder and former CEO of Volta Charging. In his new role, Mercer will oversee Focused Energy's expansion in their domestic and global markets. Thomas Forner will continue leadership as president of the company and will focus on strategic business and government relationships.

TUCSON, Arizona — Applied Energetics, Inc. has named James Harrison director of new product innovation for the company, effective April 3. Harrison has more than 30 years of experience in opto-electronic sources. He has held global leadership positions in engineering and research and development with Tier-1 suppliers of photonics devices, where his responsibilities included providing substantial support for volume manufacturing of semiconductor lasers and packaged sources.

IRVINE, Calif. — MoviTHERM, a provider of thermal monitoring solutions, has added Guido Deutz as its European sales director following the company’s expansion into Europe. Deutz has extensive background and experience in sales and business development in the machine vision industry, and previously served as business development manager for Automation Technology (AT).
