Thin Film Delivers Drugs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 12, 2008 -- An implantable thin-film system can deliver drugs to specific targets in the body by disintegrating when an electric field is applied. The film developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology serves as a "micropharmacy" and could eventually be used to deliver drugs for cancer, epilepsy, diabetes and other diseases.
