NEWARK, Calif., Feb. 7 -- Quantum Magnetics, a subsidiary of InVision Technologies Inc., has been awarded $3.49 million for the first phase of a 28-month project to develop a landmine detection system situated on a moving vehicle for the US Army. The detection system is based on one of Quantum Magnetics' core technologies, quadrupole resonance (QR). The company began developing precision QR-based mine detection sensors for the US Department of Defense more than six years ago. Quantum will develop the technology from stationary detection of landmines to detecting mines while moving over a wide...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesNanowire Single-photon Detector Lets Machines See Through WallsUsing a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD) as the light-sensing element, researchers from Tianjin University demonstrated non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging at two infrared (IR)...Photonics Spectra February 2024 IssueIR Imager Merges AI, Thermal Physics to See in the DarkHeat-Assisted Detection and Ranging (HADAR), a patent-pending thermal imaging technology from Purdue University, combines infrared (IR) imaging, machine learning, and thermal physics to visualize...Photonics Spectra October 2023 IssueREMBRANDT Project Collaborators to Advance Microwave PhotonicsLioniX International and the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) will work with Lockheed Martin to develop a novel microwave photonic solution supporting space and defense missions.
