Konka Group Co. Ltd. has unveiled a pair of novel, quantum dot ultra-HD TVs based on Color IQ optics from QD Vision Inc. of Lexington, Mass. The new high-end TVs feature large size, high resolution, Smart TV functionality, wide color gamut and an ultraslim design. They will be available at leading Chinese retailers later this year. Konka currently has a large share of the Chinese high-end television market. China represents almost two-thirds of global demand for UHD or 4K televisions, according to DisplaySearch, a subsidiary of market research firm IHS Inc. “Quantum dot technology is one of the biggest breakthroughs for LCD in recent years,” said Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, CEO and principal analyst at Touch Display Research Inc. “We forecast that by 2025, 60 percent of TVs will have quantum dots in them.”
