Polyphenyl ethers, a group of molecules with a long history of performance in extreme conditions, are now being used as high-performance optical materials. Polyphenyl ethers, or PPEs, are a class of molecules new to optical applications, but with a long history of stability and robustness in other fields. These short-chain cyclic compounds are linked by oxygen atoms.
