Opnext Inc. of Eatontown, N.J., announced that James Horiuchi, the company's vice president of North America sales, has been promoted to senior vice president, global sales, effective immediately. He replaces Christopher Lin, who left the position after six years to pursue other interests. In his new position, Horiuchi will be responsible for global sales, including North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. He has more than 23 years of experience in sales, research and development, manufacturing, and senior management in both the Japan and US, including more than 10 years in the fiber optics industry. He has been with Opnext since 2001. Before that, Horiuchi was employed at Infineon Technologies and Hitachi Semiconductor America. He received his MBA from Santa Clara University in California. Opnext, formerly Hitachi's Fiber Optic Components business unit, supplies laser-based optical components to the communications, security, medical systems and consumer electronics markets.
