Imaging Test Said to Better Predict Cardiac Arrest

NORTH BILLERICA, Mass., Jan. 9 -- The results of a new study show that a noninvasive imaging technique called stress myocardial perfusion imaging (stress MPI) can help to more accurately detect crucial warning signs of future cardiac events in patients with diabetes than clinical assessment alone. The study results show that information provided by a stress MPI test may result in earlier intervention and improved patient outcomes for the some 16 million Americans with diabetes, who are more prone to heart disease and who can be difficult to diagnose.
