Corning Collaborates with Alcatel-Lucent

Corning Cable Systems of Hickory, N.C., part of Corning Inc.’s telecommunications segment, and Alcatel-Lucent of Paris have signed a memorandum of understanding under which Corning will supply its OptiTap hardened connectors and adapters for use in the French company’s gigabit passive optical network fiber-to-the-home systems. The memorandum outlines the terms of a multiyear agreement to be negotiated and signed by the companies, specifying that Corning will become the exclusive supplier of the devices for the systems.
