About This Webinar
Building a great lidar system requires a great laser. In this webinar, the presenters discuss the five most important criteria for choosing the right laser for your lidar systems, which are increasingly based on narrow-linewidth lasers due to their superior performance versus traditional time-of-flight solutions.

Frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) and coherent lasers enable new lidar applications that require high-resolution, long-distance, 3D-sensing, and velocity measurement. Autonomous vehicles - such as robotaxis and self-driving trucks - wind, metrology, and space navigation are examples of sectors in which FMCW lidars are being adopted today and are expected to grow significantly over the next decade. Selecting the right laser source requires a careful analysis and balancing of multiple attributes.

LUNA Innovations***This presentation premiered during the 2021 Photonics Spectra Optics Conference. For information on upcoming Photonics Media events, see our event calendar here.

About the presenters
Yves LeMaitreYves LeMaitre is president of RIO Lasers, now part of LUNA Innovations. Prior to joining RIO, LeMaitre was Lumentum's chief strategy officer, following the acquisition of Oclaro. During his tenure at Oclaro, from 2008 to 2018, he served in various executive positions, such as president of the optical connectivity business unit and as chief commercial officer. LeMaitre received a master's degree in mathematics and computer science from Nantes University in France. He also received an engineering degree from École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST) in Paris.

Martin ReevesMartin Reeves is sales and marketing director at RIO Lasers. He has led the RIO Sales team for ~10 years, building on his extensive scientific/R&D sales experience from his times at Spectra-Physics, New Focus, and Quantronix. Reeves received a master's degree in advanced laser manufacturing from Liverpool University, where he also received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
