Bodkin Design & Engineering (BD&E) LLC has received a $750,000 Phase II SBIR contract from the US Navy for the development of a compact polarimetric imager for infrared and visible wavelengths. To aid in the detection of targets from airborne and ground-based surveillance, the polarimeter sensor cuts through cluttered environments to identify and locate military targets in real-time. Its design provides a compact device without cumbersome optics or specially fabricated focal planes. With the addition of polarimetric capabilities to its family of image sensors, BD&E will be able to improve the warfighters’ capability. Funded by the Small Business Innovation Research program, BD&E will develop a prototype of the low cost, compact sensors during the 24-month Phase II stage of the project. BD&E serves the OEM, commercial, military and research communities with concept development, prototype design/build and engineering services. For more information, visit: www.bondkindesign.com
