Direct Time-of-Flight Sensor. Courtesy of ams OSRAM.TMF8829 from ams OSRAM is a direct Time-of-Flight 48 × 32 sensor for 3D detection and differentiation in diverse applications. TMF8829 divides its field of view into <1,536 zones, which is an improvement over the 64 zones in standard 8 × 8 sensors and enables finer spatial detail. Due to its small size of 5.7 × 2.9 × 1.5 mm, the TMF8829 delivers high resolution in a format ideal for space-constrained devices. TMF8829 uses a dual VCSEL light source to measure distances up to 11 meters with 0.25-mm precision. With its 48 × 32 zones, the sensor covers an 80° field of view, delivering depth information across a scene comparable to that of a wide-angle lens.
