Vision Sneak Preview 2018

With machine vision in focus, VISION 2018 is ready for the Messe Stuttgart exhibition and trade fair center in Stuttgart, Germany, Nov. 6-8.

This biennial event is organized by Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, and provides a marketplace for component manufacturers and a platform for system suppliers and integrators. Thousands of researchers, engineers, and manufacturers and nearly 500 exhibitors from 28 countries are expected to attend.

OEMs, mechanical engineering companies, and system houses will see the latest innovations of machine vision components in a unique venue where the complete spectrum of machine vision technology is presented. Industry sectors such as electrical engineering and electronics, automotive and automotive suppliers, machinery and plant engineering, and medical technology pharmaceuticals will all be represented at VISION 2018.

Highly specialized products will showcase the latest trends in machine vision technology, from smart cameras and optical filters to frame grabbers and measuring systems. Nearly 500 exhibitors — Teledyne DALSA, Sony, Basler, Connect Tech Inc., Neadvance Machine Vision S.A., Baumer, Chroma Technology, Edmund Optics, Matrox Imaging, and SCHOTT AG, among others — will present and demonstrate these and other products, and also will discuss existing and potential applications— barcode identification, color inspection, texture analysis, 3D robot vision, security systems, and more.

Industrial VISION Days, a three-day forum featuring around 80 presentations, are scheduled, focusing on important trend topics and innovations in vision and image processing technology. The world’s largest lecture forum for machine vision, some of the forum’s themes include camera technology, software and deep learning, hyperspectral imaging, and vision processing.

As a part of this forum, experts will discuss inspection applications and target end user. This is an opportunity for machine vision users to learn about the right systems and solutions for their research and work.

Other events such as the International Vision Night 2018, organized by the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), will be held. This is 12th Vision Night program, where attendees gather for special events by EMVA. Among them is the International Machine Vision Standards booth, in which experts examine the most commonly used digital interface standards in the industry and offer advice for use of the standards in various machine vision applications.

More highlights of the event include the Integration Area, a section of the trade fair dedicated to system integrators and solution providers. Another, IPC 4 VISION, is dedicated to showcasing industrial PCs (IPCs), and providing a broader platform for various products and services.

TRAFFIC VISION, introduced to the VISION show in 2014, will again be held. This allows specialized exhibitors from the traffic and transportation industries to highlight their machine vision products and host speakers.

VISION 2018 also will present its 23rd VISION Award. Sponsored by industry journal Imaging & Machine Vision, the prize recognizes outstanding innovations in machine vision. The winner receives €5,000 and the chance to showcase their work at VISION’s official press conference event.
