THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Oct. 17 -- In a move the company says will better serve its customers outside of Japan, analytical and industrial instrumentation technology developer Rigaku has reorganized its various operating companies and divisions serving markets beyond Japan into a single company. Rigaku Americas Corp. (RAC) is now the operating entity in charge of North America.

Rigaku and its subsidiaries create products to support research, development and quality assurance in the fields of small molecule and protein crystallography, x-ray spectrometry and diffraction, x-ray optics and semiconductor metrology. The new, combined RAC organization includes: Rigaku/MSC, Osmic, RoboDesign, Molecular Images, Electronic Imaging Technologies, Molecular Metrology and the Vacuum Products div. ActiveSight, Rigaku's contract research organization servicing the pharmaceutical and biotech markets, will continue to operate as a separate entity. The former Rigaku/MSC operation in the UK will now be known as Rigaku Europe.

According to the company, the transition will take place over the next few months, with the completion, both legally and formally, targeted for March 1, 2006.
