He replaces Esam Elashmawi, who served as interim CEO since June and will continue to serve as the company’s chief strategy and marketing officer. Lediju Bell to be the next editor-in-chief of the Journal of Biomedical Optics, effective Jan. 2025. She succeeds the journal's current editor-in-chief, Brian W. Pogue, who has held the role since 2018. Bell is the John C. Malone associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering, where she is also the founder and director of the Photoacoustic and Ultrasonic Systems Engineering Lab. Bell was inducted as a SPIE fellow in 2023 and received a SPIE Early Career Achievement Award in 2021.
