iPronics Taps CEO: People in the News: 9/18/24

VALENCIA, Spain, September 18, 2024 — iPronics, a reconfigurable photonics deep tech startup, has appointed Christian Dupont as its CEO. Dupont brings over 30 years of experience in high-tech business and developing strategy, having previously served as the wireless general manager for Texas Instruments as well as CEO of several optical MEMS startups. iPronics is the developer of an optical networking engine for data center management.

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Edge computer developer Lattice Semiconductor has added Ford Tamer as CEO. He replaces Esam Elashmawi, who served as interim CEO since June and will continue to serve as the company’s chief strategy and marketing officer. Most recently, Tamer served as president and CEO of electro-optics solutions company Inphi for over nine years.

ENSCHEDE, Netherlands — PHIX, a photonic integrated circuit assembly services company, has transitioned Jeroen Duis to the role of CTO and added Marcel van Veen as sales director. Duis previously served as PHIX’s CCO along with a stint as a business developer for SMART Photonics.

AUKLAND, New Zealand — Photonics test and measurement company Quantifi Photonics has appointed Paul Muckleston to its board of directors. Muckleston held a number of global leadership roles at Microsoft. He is currently a managing director at the SellSide Group, a U.S. based mergers and acquisition firm, and a venture partner at Pacific Channel, a New Zealand-based deep tech venture capital fund.

HERZOGENRATH, Germany — AIXTRON, a provider of deposition equipment for the semiconductor industry, has renewed the contract of CEO Felix Grawert. He has been a member of the executive board since Aug. 2017 and has held the position of chairman of the executive board and CEO since 2021. Prior to joining AIXTRON, Grawert worked at Infineon Technologies AG and McKinsey & Company.

LENEXA, Kan. — Provider of laser material processing and laser equipment manufacturing solutions Preco, LLC. has appointed Jacob Brunsberg as CEO. Before joining Preco, Brunsberg was the CEO at Sigma Additive Solutions Inc. and held global profit and loss leadership for General Electric’s Binder Jet Technology unit while operating as the senior managing director of the central region.

SAN FRANCISCO — Ray Therapeutics, an optogenetics company, has added Christopher Whitmore as CFO. Whitmore brings over 20 years of strategic finance, accounting, and operational experience to the company, having most recently served as CFO at Immune-Onc and in management positions at Harpoon Therapeutics and Immune Design, which were both acquired by Merck.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has selected Muyinatu A. Lediju Bell to be the next editor-in-chief of the Journal of Biomedical Optics, effective Jan. 2025. She succeeds the journal's current editor-in-chief, Brian W. Pogue, who has held the role since 2018. Bell is the John C. Malone associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering, where she is also the founder and director of the Photoacoustic and Ultrasonic Systems Engineering Lab. Bell was inducted as a SPIE fellow in 2023 and received a SPIE Early Career Achievement Award in 2021.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Technology realization partner SkyWater Technology has appointed Bassel Haddad as its senior vice president and general manager of advanced packaging. He will be responsible for all aspects of SkyWater’s advanced packaging business including technology development, engineering, marketing, and Florida fab operations along with strengthening collaborations with government partners, technology centers, and university programs. Haddad served in a variety of roles at Intel beginning in 2011, most recently as vice president and general manager of edge device and AI products.

OXFORD, England — Refeyn, a mass photometry technologies developer, has established a new scientific advisory board in an effort to realize the full potential of mass photometry’s bioanalytical workflow capabilities. The board is chaired by Oxford University biophysical chemistry professor and Refeyn co-founder Justin Benesch and includes CTO and chief quality officer of Abzena Louise Duffy, chief scientific officer of Solvias Daniel Galbraith, senior director of therapeutic platforms at LifeArc Volker Germaschewski, and life science tools and applications consultant and technology scout at Sartorius AG Del Trezise.
