WaveSplitter Technologies Inc. of Fremont, Calif., demonstrated a 160-channel dense wavelength division multiplexing module in March at OFC in Anaheim, Calif. The 25-GHz demultiplexing module transmitted C-band signals at a rate of 10 Gb/s, enabling network providers to increase the bandwidth on the available fiber while offering higher data rates. The company combined its 1 x 4, 25-GHz WaveProcessor Interleaver and four 40-channel WaveArray arrayed waveguide gratings for the demonstration. WaveSplitter received the 2000 Photonics Circle of Excellence Award for the interleaver in January at Photonics West in San Jose, Calif.
