Schott to Close Auburn, N.Y., Facility

Schott North America Inc. has announced that its Auburn, N.Y., plant will cease fiber optic and LED production for medical and industrial applications by the end of 2008. After the closure, which the company says is “due to industry pressures,” customers will be served from Schott’s Southbridge, Mass., location, and manufacturing will be absorbed by its other facilities around the world. The 73 employees at the Auburn location are being offered jobs at its facilities where opportunities exist.Read full article
