Fiber optic cable maker Tratech Fiberoptics of Bend, Ore., will manufacture and distribute Meight optical fiber connectors and associated components under a licensing deal with Mobius Photonics, the companies announced recently. "Tratech has an established history with Mobius as a fiber assembly supplier and was a contributor in Meight connector development. They continually demonstrate to us a high level of product quality and reliability, which will be important for helping establish the Meight design as a new standard in optical fiber connectors," said Red Byer, Mobius vice president of operations. Mobius makes short-pulsed fiber laser sources (IR, green, and UV lasers). Mobius’s Meight is a detachable optical fiber connector intended for precision power applications such as pump light delivery and fiber coupling in commercial and industrial lasers. The connectors accommodate up to a few hundred watts of power via multimode fibers with core diameters from 50 µm to 1 mm. For more information, visit: www.mobiusphotonics.com
