BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 17 -- The HairMax LaserComb has received certification by the Canadian government as a class 2 medical device "for claims and indications to strengthen hair, prevent hair loss and stimulate regrowth of scalp hair in men and women," said its manufacturer, Lexington International. The company said the low-level laser device improves the quality and thickness of hair. In the US, the LaserComb is classified as a cosmetic device. Clinical data will be presented to the US Food and Drug Adminitration in mid-2003, the company said. Lexington International had its beginnings in...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesBlue Light Technique Will Advance Nanoscale TechResearchers at Brown University have developed an approach to scattering-type scanning near-field microscopy (s-SNOM) that uses blue light to enable measurement of electrons in semiconductors, as...Photonics Spectra July 2023 IssueLasers, Spectroscopy, and OCT Cut Bone SafelyResearchers at the University of Basel have developed a system that increases the safety and precision of lasers used to cut bone in surgical settings.
