Laser Cladding Services Hires Development Engineer

Laser Cladding Services (LCS) of Houston announced it has hired Eswar Yarrapareddy, PhD, as laser-cladding development engineer. In his new position, Yarrapareddy supervises the development of laser-cladding processes using CO2, diode, and fiber lasers to apply a variety of coating materials used in the energy industry. With more than six years of industrial and research experience in laser materials processing, metallurgy and materials science, he has worked extensively in process optimization and control of laser cladding and e-beam direct metal deposition and developed nano-based surface...Read full article

    Glossary
    diode
A two-electrode device with an anode and a cathode that passes current in only one direction. It may be designed as an electron tube or as a semiconductor device.
    nano
An SI prefix meaning one billionth (10-9). Nano can also be used to indicate the study of atoms, molecules and other structures and particles on the nanometer scale. Nano-optics (also referred to as nanophotonics), for example, is the study of how light and light-matter interactions behave on the nanometer scale. See nanophotonics.
    photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
    slurry
The name of the mixture of liquid and grinding or polishing compounds used in processing optical materials.
