Fused Silica Phase Masks Enhance Laser Processing and Microscopy

Phase masks and phase plates made of fused silica are used for a number of applications in the field of optics and photonics. Examples include diffractive masks used in laser micromachining or structured illumination, and for the generation of specific focus geometries in high-resolution microscopy. Fused silica offers high transparency from the deep UV to the near-IR and excellent thermal and chemical properties.
