Flow Cytometry Uncovers Predictive Biomarker for Severe COVID

MUNICH, Dec. 19, 2023 — Using image-based flow cytometry, researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) identified a biomarker for predicting how serious a COVID-19 infection will be. They also developed a rapid test for assessing a patient’s risk of severe COVID-19 infection. The ability to determine the potential gravity of a COVID infection will help physicians determine the most effective treatment for these patients at an early stage of the disease, leading to better patient management.
