MARLBORO, Mass., March 22 -- Data Translation, Inc. reported a profit for the first fiscal quarter ending February 28, 1999. Net income for the quarter was $102,000, or $0.05 per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $274,000, or $0.13 per basic and diluted share for the comparable quarter of fiscal year 1998. Total sales for the first quarter were $3,857,000, a decrease of approximately 15% from $4,556,000 in the first quarter of 1998. We are very pleased with our profitable results for the first quarter. This represents the second quarter in succession of improving profitable operations, said Fred Molinari, President and Chief Executive Officer.
