Canon Medical Systems USA has acquired Toshiba's Imaging Systems Division, which will be integrated into the company as the Video Sensing Division, effective Oct. 1. Globally, the professional video camera business has been integral to the Japan-based Canon Medical organization since October 2016. According to Paul Dempster, director of sales at the Video Sensing Division (formerly known as Toshiba America Information Systems’ Imaging Systems Division), distribution and authorized service providers for existing products will remain the same, as well as manufacturing and quality inspection. The newly integrated Video Sensing Division will complement Canon’s long history as a video camera technology leader by focusing on serving the medical technology market as an OEM supplier in surgical imaging robotics and clinical robotics. The division’s product line services a niche market not met through other Canon video technology.
