HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., Oct. 26 -- NextPath Technologies Inc. has acquired 100 percent of Lancaster, Pa.-based Laser Wireless Inc. in a stock and cash transaction. Laser Wireless designs and markets wireless optical communication systems that transmit video, voice, and data optically through the atmosphere. The company said these systems offer solutions for private communications in situations where a leased line cannot be used or where physical barriers -- such as rivers, highways, parking lots, etc. -- prevent use of conventional cables. Laser Wireless' future plans include the introduction of systems able to operate on stabilized platforms such as ships or motor vehicles.
