Stephen R. Forrest, a professor of electrical engineering at Princeton University, was recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Forrest is also the lead scientist from Princeton in its strategic partnership with Universal Display Corp., which develops flat-panel display technology for organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). He is one of 77 new members of the academy, and the first to be cited specifically for work in OLED technology. Forrest is named as an inventor on 62 organic electronic patents that are part of Universal Display Corp.'s portfolio. . . . Patrick Shone has been apponted to head Soft Imaging System Ltd., a subsidiary of Soft Imaging System GmbH that recently opened in North Yorkshire, England. Soft Imaging System, based in Muenster, Germany, specializes in digital image analytical hardware and software. . . . StockerYale Inc., a supplier of photonics-based products, said it was awarded a $412,000 order for advanced imaging systems from a manufacturer of hard disc drives for enterprise, PC and consumer electronics applications. It said it expects to deliver the systems in the second quarter of 2003.
