HAYES, England, April 4 -- CRL Opto Ltd., a UK supplier of high-resolution microdisplays, and MOXTEK, a US supplier of optical components, announced they have formed a "customer-focused" strategic alliance.
"Liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) microdisplays are now more than just an emerging display technology," said Greg Truman, managing director of CRL Opto. "As more projection and near-eye products are introduced, users demand more efficient and cost-effective solutions."
The companies said combining CRL Opto's high-resolution microdisplay technology and MOXTEK's products and applications expertise will enable customers to integrate components into their applications.
"In most projection systems, one of the main problems associated with traditional dye-type absorbing polarizers is their inability to survive high light flux," Truman said. "With high transmission a requirement, the large acceptance angle of the LCOS microdisplay and the ProFlux polarizing beam splitter from MOXTEK enable users to work to f/1.8. This allows a greater throughput without a tradeoff on contrast."
