Apera AI, a provider of 4D vision technology for industrial robotic automation, has closed a series A funding round. The undisclosed sum will serve to accelerate the company’s growth and enable further investment in personnel, processes, and product development. As part of its expansion strategy, Apera AI has strengthened its executive leadership team with four new appointments. The company named Peter Brouwer as senior vice president of global sales, Genèse Castonguay as vice president of marketing, Joseph Lee as CFO, and Robert St-Jacques as vice president of people. Apera AI's patented 4D Vision platform combines 3D vision and AI to deliver high-speed, precise performance in applications such as bin picking, de-racking, and complex assembly. The company's AI model utilizes, in part, synthetic data to help train its neural networks. This allows the system to bypass the need for reference images or reliance on CAD models, allowing it to address new parts on the fly. The technology enables robots to adapt to shifting bins, changing lighting conditions, worn grippers, and complex part geometry to provide greater speed, accuracy, and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
