Roohparvar Out as President of DigitalOptics
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 5, 2012 — Dr. Farzan "Bob" Roohparvar has been replaced as president of DigitalOptics Corp. (DOC) by Chief Operations Officer Logan Saverimuthu. The company announced both the departure and the interim appointment on Tuesday.
The company provided no additional information on Roohparvar's departure. He came to DOC from Flextronics, which he joined in 2006 as president of its power supply business, FlexPower, and where he served as president and CEO of Vista Point Technologies. Before that, he was vice president and general manager at Broadcom. He also has held management positions at Fairchild Semiconductor and Xicor.
DOC makes miniaturized, next-generation camera modules for consumer electronics and the automotive, medical and security markets.
It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tessera Technologies Inc.
"DOC remains on schedule to ship its advanced MEMS autofocus products in the fourth quarter of 2012," said Robert A. Young, CEO and president of Tessera. "DOC is ready for an experienced and accomplished senior executive with the skills to drive our customer, sales and marketing initiatives to the next level."
Saverimuthu, who joined DOC in April 2011, manages the company's plants and production facilities, including those in Zhuhai, China (camera-module manufacturing), and Taiwan (lens manufacturing). He is adding the day-to-day operational management activities of DOC to his current duties.
Before joining DOC, he was employed by Vista Point Technologies, where he led operations and quality groups at camera-module production facilities in Malaysia and China from 2006 until April 2011.
