Discovery Channel Awards Telescope Mirror Contract
Nov 1, 2006 — The University of Arizona’s College of Optical Sciences in Tucson and Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz., have finalized a three-year, $3 million contract to complete the primary mirror for the Discovery Channel Telescope. Located in Happy Jack, Ariz., the telescope is expected to be fully operational by 2010. The project includes polishing and figuring the 4.3-m-diameter mirror, the fifth largest in the continental US.
