SUI Near-IR Single-Photon Counter
Sensors Unlimited Inc.Request Info
PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 9, 2006 -- SUI (formerly Sensors Unlimited Inc.), part of Goodrich Corp., said its SU-02-SPC near-infrared (NIR) photon counter bench instrument is designed for single-photon counting in the near-infrared spectrum from 0.9 to 1.6 µms.
The SU-02-SPC incorporates proprietary circuits for discrimination of avalanche photodiode (APD) output pulses at very low current levels, as well as active quenching circuitry with response time under 10 nanoseconds. In combination, these features provide the least time jitter and afterpulsing available in commercial indium gallium arsenide/indium phosphide (InGaAs/InP) photon counting technology, SUI said.
The detection tool is easy to operate and compact (19 by 5.25 by 12 in.), the manufacturer said, and is based on a family of high-performance InGaAs/InP APDs designed and manufactured in-house. The instrument's mainframe plus detector plug-in architecture makes optimizing or upgrading detectors simple: Just unplug one detector and plug in another.
The module offers simple user control over a wide variety of parameters, such as gate duration, repetition rate, detection probability and dead time. The range of settings can accommodate almost any experiment, and suggested setups are included for many common photon-counting applications.
Applications for SUI’s NIR photon counting module include semiconductor failure analysis, ultrasensitive Raman spectroscopy, singlet oxygen detection, photodynamic therapy (PDT) dosimetry, high-performance optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) and quantum key distribution and information processing.
