Raman Spectral Engine
BaySpec Inc.Request Info
FREMONT, Calif., June 30, 2009 – BaySpec Inc. has released its first next-generation visible-NIR Raman spectral engine with a range of 300 to 1100 nm. The 2048 × 64-pixel CCD array produces typical resolution of approximately 5 cm-1. The device is lightweight and portable for use in the field.
It uses a volume phase grating transmission grating and is supplied calibrated for life, requiring no additional calibration in the field.
The spectral engine offers ultralow fluorescence interference for Raman spectroscopy of biological, tissue and skin samples. The volume phase grating is employed as the spectral dispersion element and the ultrasensitive CCD array detector is employed as the detection element, thereby providing high-speed parallel processing and continuous spectrum measurements. The device uses either a fiber optic input or a slit optics arrangement, depending upon customer preference.
The signal is spectrally dispersed with the volume phase grating, and the diffracted field is focused onto the CCD array detector. The control electronics read out the processed digital signal to extract required information. Both the raw data and the processed data are available to the host.
Features include real-time spectral data acquisition with fast millisecond response time, and an athermal design for ultralow power consumption and improved reliability.
