LOGAN, Utah, April 28, 2010 — The PD10-IR-pJ photodiode energy sensor from Ophir-Spiricon is now available to measure very low energy down to 30 pJ.

Part of the PD10 family of high sensitivity silicon laser sensors, the new addition extends the low measurement capability into the NIR range, covering 800 to 1800 nm.

It can measure single shot or repetitive low energies up to 10 kHz, and it uses a 5 mm aperture germanium photodiode to measure pulse energies in the 200 pJ to 20 nJ range, with the lowest possible energy measurement as small as 30 pJ.

The sensors are designed for very low energy commercial and military applications, including telecommunications and remote sensing.
