A polishing system from Meller Optics Inc. features Microlux alumina abrasive powders in regular and deagglomerated grades and in seven particle sizes, and as water-based calcined suspensions in eight sizes from 0.05 to 3.0 µm. The Microlux abrasives are suitable for semiconductor wafers, precision optics and bearings. Using Gugolz premixed optical lapping pitch, the system can achieve finishes as fine as 10/5 scratch/dig, and the company says it eliminates the need for screening, filtering and mixing additives.
