The Imaging Solutions Div. of Toshiba America has launched ultracompact, high-resolution, progressive-scan CCD cameras for machine vision. The IK-52V 1/2-in. and -53V 1/3-in. instruments weigh 45 g each and measure 29 mm3. They provide horizontal resolution at 500 TV lines via 659 × 494 effective pixels. With shutter speeds from 1/60 to 1/100,000 s and noninterlaced shuttering, the cameras achieve crisp images at high speeds. Their signal-to-noise ratio is 60 dB. VGA output may be captured by a frame grabber or sent to a monitor for immediate review. With manual gain set at maximum, the minimum subject illumination setting is 1 lux at ƒ-1.4 sensitivity.
