LASER CUTTING SYSTEM
Rofin-Baasel LasertechRequest Info
An updated laser cutting system designed to make medical implants such as stents and other precision components has been launched by Rofin/Baasel Lasertech. The fifth version of its StarCut Tube laser can cut an 8-mm-long coronary stent in less than one minute. The company says that the system operates up to 10 times faster than previous models because of a motion system based on linear motor technology and direct-drive rotary axis. The contour trajectory can be viewed on a thin-film transistor monitor, and a maximum accuracy of a few microns can be achieved. The StarCut 18 model has a power range of 7 to 25 W and can achieve kerf widths of 18 to 20 μm; the StarCut12fm is a fundamental mode laser with 12 W and kerf widths smaller than 15 μm; and the StarCut Tube Fiber provides up to 20 W and kerf widths below 15 μm.
