SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 24, 2006 -- Modulight has introduced 1550-nm
Fabry-Perot (FP) and distributed feedback (DFB) laser diodes for analog
applications following the release of its analog 1310-nm FP and DFB
laser diodes. These long-wavelength lasers can be combined with the
1310-nm lasers for bidirectional transmission over single fiber, or
they can be used independently for longer spans than those obtained
with 1310 nms. The new products can be used to increase the
transmission capacity and reach of fiber optic links in wireless
repeaters, video surveillance systems, radio frequency-over-fiber and
hybrid-fiber-coax networks -- where good carrier-to-noise ratio is
critical.
DFB laser diodes with eight coarse wavelength division multiplexing
(CWDM) wavelengths (from 1470 to 1610 nm) with 20-nm spacing are
designed for digital modulation with up to a 2.5 Gb/s signaling rate.
Modulight said its uncooled, hermetically sealed coaxial
fiber-pigtailed DFB lasers feature high side mode suppression, low
distortion and low RIN (relative intensity noise). FP lasers offer a
cost-efficient solution for applications with relaxed requirements for
spectral purity. Lasers are available with or without an integrated
optical isolator and with a variety of connectors.
