o_CONTROL Precitech is offering the Optimum 5000 computer-controlled machining system for the manufacturing of highly accurate, nonrotationally symmetric lenses, lens molds, conformal optics and f/Theta-type optics. The machine's multiaxis motion allows for three-dimensional diamond machining, aspheric grinding, raster-type grinding and precision milling. It uses three oil hydrostatic linear axes (X, Y and Z), as well as a pneumostatic rotational axis (A). Each linear axis is fitted with an athermally mounted 8.6-nm linear glass scale for position feedback. The A axis operates at 1-arcsec resolution. The Optimum 5000 also can machine conventional rotationally symmetric components.
