Adhesive for Medical Device Assembly
TORRINGTON, Conn., Aug. 18, 2009 – With Dymax Corp.’s Ultra-Red fluorescing 1180-M-UR adhesive, users can perform high-speed, high-volume needle bonding medical device assembly.
The multipurpose MD medical device adhesive cures upon exposure to UV and visible light and is designed for rapid bonding of the plastics and metals typically used in the manufacture of syringes and needles.
Available in thixotropic (5000 cP) and low (150 cP) viscosities, the adhesive fluoresces bright red under low-intensity “black” light at 365 nm. The bright red fluorescence contrasts well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in color, such as polyvinyl chloride, and assists with visual inspection of bond-line areas.
This solvent-free adhesive is ISO 10993-approved and compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilization. Its ability to cure in fractions of a second enables faster processing, greater output and lower processing costs. Besides needle bonding, it is suitable for the assembly of reservoirs and transducers as well as medical potting applications.
