Jake Saltzman serves as managing editor, Photonics Spectra, overseeing content and production for Photonics Media's flagship publication. Saltzman previously led news coverage responsibilities for Photonics Spectra, Vision Spectra, and BioPhotonics magazines. He co-hosts the "All Things Photonics" podcast.

Senior Editor Douglas Farmer has been a journalist for nearly 20 years, winning awards for health and education reporting. He has a master's degree in journalism from Ball State University. He is editor of BioPhotonics and Vision Spectra magazines.

Joel Williams began his career in community journalism. As news editor at Photonics Media, he is a key contributor to our online news coverage and regularly contributes content to all three magazines and the "All Things Photonics" podcast.

After more than 16 years of covering local news on television as a video journalist, reporter, and producer, Joe Kuczynski joined Photonics Media as a senior editor in 2024. Award-winning Kuczynski leads the video department and performs editorial duties supporting Photonics Spectra.

Contributing Editor Hank Hogan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked in the semiconductor industry and now writes about science and technology.

Contributing Editor Marie Freebody is a freelance science and technology journalist with a master’s degree in physics and a concentration in nuclear astrophysics from the University of Surrey in England.

Contributing Editor Michael Eisenstein studied biology at Brown University and Rockefeller University. He has worked as a freelance science journalist and as an editor for the past 10 years.

Contributing Editor James Schlett is an award-winning author, poet, and journalist. He is the former editor of BioPhotonics magazine.

Contributing Editor Andreas Thoss, Ph.D., is a laser physicist, founder of THOSS Media, and a contributing editor to Photonics Spectra. He has been writing and editing technical texts, with a focus on the field of photonics, for two decades.
