LOUISVILLE, Colo., June 8 -- Zolo Technologies Inc., a developer and manufacturer of optical networking subsystems, announced that Dr. Tingye Li, co-founder of Zolo Technologies and chairman of its Technical Advisory Board, has received the IEC Fellow Award. The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) presented this prestigious honor during a luncheon on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Supercomm 2001, in Atlanta.
Li, a pioneer in the telecommunications industry, spent more than 40 years at the AT&T Communications Infrastructure Laboratory, where he is credited with revolutionizing lightwave communications. He led the AT&T research team responsible for shifting AT&T's and, hence, the entire telecommunications industry's focus on fiber optic bandwidth capacity expansion from single-channel time division multiplexing to multichannel wavelength division multiplexing. An author of more than 100 journals and papers and the owner of numerous patents, Li's research has led to the development of commercial fiber optic networking systems now being used in all areas of telecommunications worldwide.
"Dr. Li represents the telecommunications industry's highest standards of knowledge and innovation," said Ed Barbera, CEO and cofounder of Zolo Technologies. "He has played an instrumental role in defining and realizing Zolo's vision. We are excited that he is being recognized by IEC, an organization that consistently promotes excellence in its field."
