LOUISVILLE, Colo., July 11 -- Zolo Technologies Inc., a developer and manufacturer of optical networking subsystems, began delivery of its 100-GHz, single-input, 16- and 20-channel DWDM modules. The Zmux 1:16/100 and 1:20/100 multiplexers/demultiplexers deliver performance that exceeds arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) devices at costs that are significantly lower than thin-film filters (TFF), the company said. This product family extension rounds out the existing offering of 32- and 40-channel, 100-GHz Zmux DWDM modules. The units are especially designed to meet the demands of metro access, metro core and regional networking applications. The Zmux DWDM family employs a proprietary ruled-diffraction grating technology to separate a spectrum of light into its constituent colors or wavelengths. The grating separates the incoming light in a parallel way, dispersing the light instead of filtering it in a cascaded fashion.
