LOUISVILLE, Colo., March 9 -- Zolo Technologies Inc., an optical networking sub-systems developer and manufacturer, has agreed to purchase grating supplier Hyperfine Inc. The company plans to close the acquisition later this year. "This acquisition enables us to deliver on our promise to produce the Zmux product line in high-volume while ensuring a high-performance product at a low cost-per-channel," said Ed Barbera, CEO and co-founder of Zolo. "Without question, Hyperfine is the world's leading grating manufacturer since they can both rule and replicate the diffraction gratings used in our DWDM devices. Most grating suppliers focus on the replication aspects of gratings but do not have the ability to rule masters from which to replicate. By combining Zolo and Hyperfine, we feel extremely confident that we will create a world-leader in grating-based optical networking subsystems."
