Yuba College in Marysville, Calif., has expanded its optics technician program to more than 40 students and has initiated a corporate affiliates program. Lead instructor Gordon Soekland said the school has expanded its optics fabrication laboratory to a total of 21 spindles, three curve generators, two Zygo Corp. interferometers and machine tools. Spectra-Physics engineer Greg Sanger will teach basic optics this spring, but the program is still looking for instructors who can teach the test-and-measurement and basic optics courses. Spectra-Physics, Coherent Inc. and the Laser and Electro-Optics Manufacturers' Association are underwriting and coordinating the technician program. For more information about the corporate affiliates program, contact the association via e-mail at mail@leoma.com.
