BURLINGTON, Ontario, Sept. 5 -- Wescam has been awarded a C$20 million contract from Public Works and Government Services Canada to outfit the Canadian Navy's Halifax and Iroquois class fleets with its shipboard Wescam 14 electro-optic surveillance equipment. Wescam will deliver imaging systems to equip 17 vessels over a two-year period, starting in 2002, as well as provide spares and support to the Canadian Navy.
The shipboard Wescam 14 is a multispectral sensor incorporating infrared, electro-optic and laser technologies. The Wescam system will provide the Canadian Navy with enhanced imaging capabilities to support surveillance, search and rescue, fisheries and pollution/environmental patrol missions.
