ANAHEIM, Calif., March 26 – Village Networks Inc., a supplier of integrated IP-over-optics networking solutions, and OMM Inc., a supplier of photonic switching subsystems based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology, announced their efforts to deliver the first solution for optical switches optimized for today's metro/regional networks. Through a close partnership, the two companies designed an optical subsystem architecture that allows Village Networks' iOPN2000 to scale to a 64 x 64 switch matrix using two-dimensional MEMS technology.
